Your credit rating will determine whether you are able to secure a home loan, or it even can determine whether you get a job. But the information that determines your credit rating can be incorrect and/or up of date.
For this reason consumers are encouraged to check their credit reports at the various credit bureaus. Information about your credit worthiness is recorded by four different credit bureaus – ITC, Experian, Expert Decision Systems (XDS) and Compuscan. ITC and Experian are the two biggest, and these report are used by most banks in assessing applications for personal loan, home loans and credit cards.
The NCA states that, you, as a consumer, have the right to obtain a free copy of your credit report, once a year.
How and where can I get a free credit report?
To get a free copy of your credit report, you will need to apply within the month of your birth. You are allowed to request one free copy each year.
